Scratch vs Alice

We have finally finished using Alice and looking back we began to compare the two programs we have learned so far, Scratch and Alice. Both programs were great in different ways, whether it was how easy it was to use, or what you could do in the world. Scratch was definitely easy to use, being able to combine color-coded commands to make your sprite do something. However, because of its simplicity, Scratch could not allow you to create things in three dimensions and therefore the possible things to do were limited greatly. Alice on the hand was almost the exact opposite. It was harder to write and create code, but you had three dimensional worlds allowing for more actions and events. Without knowing Scratch and how certain code works, Alice would have been even harder than before. Overall, I liked Scratch more because creating code was easiest to piece together in a script, but you could still make fun things to do even if it is only two dimensional.
